As well as Star Citizen Wiki's ability to host images, this site is capable of hosting a nearly limitless number of videos for use on articles. This is to ensure the best quality and availability of videos by not relying on foreign hosting sites. In order to ensure easy navigation of videos, smooth operation of the wiki, prevent the possible abuse of the video system, and prevent copyright issues, this policy has been put in place to guide users.

Uploading Videos

To prevent copyright concerns, uploading videos to the wiki by users is strictly forbidden, without the express permission of an administrator. If you wish to upload a video to the wiki, users must first ask an administrator for permission via the talk page feature.

Video Library

The Video Library contains hundreds of videos pertaining to the Star Citizen universe including trailers, walkthroughs, and news clips. These videos are all licensed and therefore do not break copyright rules. For this reason, users should always check to see if the Video Library contains videos on a Star Citizen subject before attempting to upload one to the wiki.

Video Quality

Videos should always be as high quality as possible with as minimal watermarking and subtitle use as possible. All videos, spare walkthroughs, and news casts should try to avoid commentary talk overs in order to ensure the best viewing experience possible for readers. Uploaders should aim for video qualities of 720p and above.

Video Use on Articles

Videos may be used on articles, however the video must have direct relevance to the article and must be contained within a gallery below the image gallery of an article. Videos should not be placed within the article's text or within infoboxes as seen with images.

Video Etiquette

Videos should not contain material which could cause offense to users; this includes graphic images and use of language. Videos which contain commentary with excessive profanity or vulgar material will be removed, and the authors punished.

Ignoring this Policy

Users who ignore this policy are at risk of being banned for a period of time decided at the discretion of the administrator performing the punishment. Punishments can vary from warnings to indefinite bans from the wiki, depending on the severity of the offence. The criteria for uploading videos may seem short, but they will help to ensure that Star Citizen Wiki achieves the best results.
