Mining is a career in Star Citizen that can be performed by hand or with ships, drones, and vehicles. Hand mining requires the use of portable devices such as the Pyro RYT Multi-Tool with a OreBit Mining Attachment and ship / vehicle mining can be performed with dedicated mining ships or vehicles that are equipped with a mining laser.
Hand/ground vehicle mining[]
Minerals[]
Hand and vehicle mining are able to collect the same type of ore, but differ in two rock sizes to limit the ability to mine to one type. Minerals acquired by hand mining or with vehicles can be sold at a Trading and Shipping Console in any city or space station. And unlike ship mining is it possible to empty vehicles and store the contents as a cSCU inside ships, this allows to sell minerals as a outpost.

Ship mining[]
Minerals[]
Mined minerals can only be sold at Ore Sales terminals at space station with a refinery deck, unlike regular cargo trading are minerals sold at almost the same price everywhere.

Volatile minerals[]
Quantainium (Raw) is a volatile mineral that degrades over time, ending in a catastrophic explosion once it is decayed.
Mining lasers[]
There is currently no Size 0 replacement mining laser for the ROC.

Mining modules[]
Mining modules are sub-component items that can be equipped on mining laser heads that feature one or more sub-component (sub-item) slots. Every modules requires one slot and offer a performance increase for the mining laser.
Refinery[]
Refinery Decks refine materials to improve their value. The time and quality depends on the process/method used. A process fee has to be paid depending on the amount of minerals and the process type. Refined materials have to be loaded as SCU crates and need to be sold at a Trading and Shipping Console.
