It has two variants; the Gladius and the Gladius Valiant which is created as part of the ‘Masters of Flight’ series in conjunction with the flight-sim Arena Commander.
Official description
The Gladius is an older design which has been updated over the years to keep up with modern technology. In military circles, the Gladius is beloved for its performance and its simplicity. A fast, light fighter with a laser-focus on dogfighting, the Gladius is an ideal interceptor or escort ship.[6]
The Aegis Gladius is the UEE’s reigning light short-range patrol fighter. A single-seat ship with no room for expansion, the Gladius is fast, maneuverable and capable of punching far above its weight. The main advantage to the design is simplicity: cheap to produce, easy to repair and outfit and quick to train new pilots on. The Gladius is an aging design nearing the end of its life-cycle, although iterative updates have kept it the most nimble fighter in the active fleet.[5]

The Gladius is able to park inside the Idris-class frigate's hangar.[7]
Retroactive Lifetime Insurance
Lifetime Insurance will be added retroactively for Gladii purchased prior to September 19, 2014.[8]
Official Designation
The official designation under the old UEE designation system was confirmed to be P5G[9]
