The Ship Showdown 2950 was a community event that was held from the 27th August to the 24th September 2020. The event was divided in two phases, in Phase 1 (27 August - 7 September 2020) - the Community Call - the community could submit their entries in form of artwork, videos, (images of) 3D prints and other creative work that were thematically about any flyable Star Citizen ship at that time,[1] across all submissions the 16 ships with the most votes formed Phase 2.[2][3]
Phase 2 (9 September - 23 September 2020) was a best of 16 tournament, one match was held at a time and was running for 24 hours the winner was the ship with the most votes. On the 24th September 2020 the Carrack was announced as the victor of the tournament. After the tournament was concluded it was announced that all semi-finalist would receive a unique livery at the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2950.[4]
During Phase 2 all ships that were participating in the tournament were free to fly and Star Citizen was also free-to-play, the starter packs Aurora MR and Mustang Alpha were sold in a Starter Pack 2950 Showdown Edition - Warbond with a 5$ discount.[5]

Phase 1 - Community Call[]
The start of the Ship Showdown 2950 was the Community Call, the community was able to submit creations in form of videos, images, drawings and crafts and upvote their favourite on https://robertsspaceindustries.com/community/ship-showdown, the 16 ships with the most upvotes across all submissions then formed the Phase 2 contestants. Phase 1 ended on the 7th September 2020.
Phase 2 - Tournament Overview[]
The tournament was a best of 16 bracket, each face-off could be voted on https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ship-showdown/live-showdown for a duration of 24hours. It ended on the 23rd September and the winner was crowned on the 24th, the defending champion the Caterpillar dropped out in round 2 against the Carrack.
The ships of Phase 2 were 890 Jump, Avenger Titan, Banu Defender, Carrack, Caterpillar, Cutlass Black, Constellation Andromeda, Eclipse, Gladius, Hammerhead, Prospector, Prowler, Razor, Reclaimer, Reliant Kore and Valkyrie.
